Sermon Notes:
The priesthood of Jesus Christ is better because;
1) A change in the priesthood was prophesied (7:11-12)
2) He belongs to a different tribe (7:13-14)
3) He has an indestructible life (7:15-17)
4) He brings people into God’s presence (7:18-19)
5) He received his priesthood with an oath (7:20-22)
6) His is a permanent priesthood (7:23-25)
7) He offers himself as the sacrifice, once for all (7:26-28)
Application:
- To view God in any manner less than how he is revealed in the scriptures, is to be in complete ignorance of who he truly is.
- To trust in anything, or anyone, other than the finished work of Christ, our Great High Priest, to make you right before God and fit for heaven is pure folly and will lead to your eternal destruction.
- To lead a life as a believer that is anything less than sacrificial obedience to the Lord Jesus, our Great HIgh Priest, is to live in disobedience to his revealed word.
